Tuning up our festival game.
As this is our first festival of more than one day we obviously have been learning what we need, what we don’t need and what we would probably add to the ‘Festival + Baby List’. The first day we arrived at about 4pm and Heidi had had a massive sleep in the car on the way which was timed quite well. I try and organise her feeding and then having her morning or afternoon nap so that it coincides with a car journey; that way we get further and we get a happy baby the other end so feeling smug at our total parent win there.
We had a full day yesterday at the festival and the Ella’s kitchen pouches worked a bloody treat! We went for breakfast in the morning and H had a strawberry yogurt pouch and for her lunch/ dinner she had the ‘bangers and mash’ pouch. We got some hot water to warm it through from one of the coffee vendors and I used Dan as a high chair and with Heidi successfully nourished we could enjoy the evening of music!
Things I think are a must for a festival based on this experience
- Baby carrier - H is NOSEY, she sleeps better in the carrier on me which means we can enjoy the evening; fighting with trying to get her down in the pram is a pointless exercise, we all end up stressed and I’m here for a good time not a long time so crack on and let them sleep on you!
- EAR DEFENDERS - your baby will thank you for the ability to hear later on in life. Also they sleep through the music so win win win.
- Food pouches - again easy life material, if you want to make your own and have the time great but get this……nobody else is actually judging you. Nobody actually cares if you feed your kid a shop bought pouch or a home made pouch or meal so you do you and if it works for you CRACK ON!
- Layers - we have had all the seasons so H has been in jumpers and sun hats……it’s ridiculous.
+/- A trolley that folds right down - We are here with Dan’s wait for it….. first cousin once removed or FC1R if you will. As there are three adults plus a baby the trolley has been extremely useful to chuck our camping chairs, bags and blankets in. Given we have had several seasons in one day and parking/camping a fair distance from the activities it made for convenient storage on wheels. We could have got away with just using the pram but why make life harder trying to carry chairs and bags at the same time. Plus as H gets bigger we could use it as somewhere she can have a snooze, chuck some fairly lights on, fill it with warm blankets and you seem like are a superior festival goer or a total tit but you won’t know which one you are so go for it!
