So you think you can blog?

Perhaps it is wise to begin with introductions. I am Nicol, a nurse, I had a baby and decided to write a blog, isn't that after all how many blogs begin? With someone who thinks they have learned something and can pass that information on or perhaps they think they are witty and might make people laugh or perhaps it's simply somewhere to put thoughts and musings? Who knows! Well my blog is to capture the ooops moments, parents wins and also the parent fails (of which we have had many!)

Lets begin with firstly the reason I am here, my daughter Heidi. She made her appearance 9 weeks and a day earlier than expected so we spent 35 days on the neonatal unit with her before we could come home and start learning about how to be parents to a tiny (extra tiny!) human who depended on us to keep her alive........ no pressure! Perhaps more on our neonatal journey at some point but not just yet.

Dan is my other half and Heidi's dad, he is a musician, playing banjo and guitar. A few years ago we decided that when I qualified as a nurse we would go to New Zealand and Australia in the lovely gap between qualifying and working as a fully fledged, qualified nurse. THEN Covid 19 ruined our plans so we bought a house and had a baby instead. Once Heidi had arrived and I was on maternity leave we decided that it was probably a good idea to make the most of me being off work and also only having one child so we are going to book our trip to New Zealand and Australia but this time we will be going out when Heidi is 1 (just shy of 10 months corrected to anyone who understands prem baby ages) and this is where my blog idea began, because what could possibly go wrong? or right, right?!!!! I want to blog about the good, the bad and the ugly of travelling with a baby. The mistakes we make along the way, how we might prep and other trips we make/ have made beforehand as it will surely be worth laughing about at some point.
